ABOUT THE ROLE Counsellor - Mercy Palliative Care

Summary of the role: We are seeking a counsellor to respond to the psychosocial needs of clients supported by Mercy Palliative Care and work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team. Counselling is provided along the continuum of palliative care and bereavement support in people's homes and office locations.

Permanent part time (48 hours per fortnight)
Counselling and psychosocial support to patients and families
Supportive and friendly Allied Health team
Position rotates across three offices Sunshine, Parkville and Werribee as required

Recognised qualifications in counselling, minimum Diploma level
Experience in grief and loss counselling across a diverse community
Experience in psychosocial assessments and relevant interventions (desirable)
Enthusiastic, flexible, dedicated, team orientated & effective communication skills
Current unrestricted drivers licence

Mercy Palliative Care is a community palliative care service operating in the Western region of Melbourne and provides a holistic multidisciplinary approach to palliative care. We provide psychological and spiritual support, caring for people of all ages with life-limiting illnesses in their homes as well as complex symptom management. We currently care for over 600 patients across the region in their own homes.
