Campaspe Family Practice is in the heart of Kyneton in the Macedon Ranges. Located within the Kyneton hospital and with all the latest modern equipment. They have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse to join their clinic.

Working with a friendly collaborative team, the aim of your role is to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the practice and provide an exceptional standard of care to patients, managing infection control and cold - chain management as well as assisting the practice to improve the health outcomes of its practice population.

Patient demographics are a very broad range including a large aging population with complex chronic conditions, children, adolescents-including doctors in schools program, mixed billings, acute presentations through their treatment room as well as Urgent Care Centre in the hospital next door.

As a practice nurse, you are the link between the patients, GPs, and services. Providing clinical care from covering triage, managing chronic disease plans, immunisations to health promotion and advice, and practice administration and support your role will be busy and varied.

The practice provides great working conditions, is well equipped with the latest medical equipment, and staff are encouraged and supported in their endeavors to improve their own skills and the well-being of the local community.

Key Selection Criteria: (Please provide a cover letter responding to the Selection Criteria)

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification and AHPRA registration.
  • Professional indemnity cover.
  • Minimum of one years nursing experience within Australia in similar role as practice nurse or community-based nursing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of general practice and interest in community-based nursing including patient education and health promotion.
  • Knowledge of current immunisation schedules, Diabetes management, asthma management, enhanced primary care items, infection control, CPR and emergency resuscitation techniques, equipment & drugs.
  • Competence in the use of relevant equipment including spirometry, ABI, ECG, BP monitor, holter monitor, sterilizer, and vaccine fridge temperature monitor.
  • Experience with specific social groups serviced by practice, such as adolescents, aged care, migrant or refuge groups, aboriginals & Torres Straight islanders, etc.
  • Additional qualifications such as Accredited Women’s Health Certificate, Diabetes Education Certificate, Asthma/Spirometry qualification/education
  • Training or experience in Medicare item numbers & health funds
  • Nurse immuniser training
  • Member of APNA -desirable
