Allied Health Assistant - Community Allied Health Services

Community Allied Health Services are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Allied Health Assistant providing support to the team in the delivery of client care to people with complex needs and older people living in the community and residential care settings.

Supervise, assist and implement client interventions in community and residential aged care settings
Provide individual or group therapeutic interventions (under direction)
Have strong communication and effective interpersonal skills to meet needs of patients
Great opportunity for an ongoing position in a dedicated & friendly team
Permanent position - part-time; 48 hours per fortnight
Salary as per EBA; $25.82 - $29.24 per hour

The Integrated Care Services Division offers a diverse range of programs and services which provide high quality person centred care to patients, clients, residents and consumers throughout Bendigo and the Loddon Mallee Region. Services are provided in inpatient, outpatient, community and residential care settings including at the Bendigo Hospital site, a number of sites in Bendigo and across the Region and in client’s homes.

Our services include one of largest public community dental services in Victoria, allied health, a comprehensive palliative care service, rehabilitation and geriatric evaluation, residential care, community care packages, carer support services, community nursing, aged care assessment, transition care, residential in reach, hospital admission risk program, post-acute care, diabetes education, aboriginal services, health promotion, diversity and interpreting services, pastoral care and a large team of volunteers.

Selection Criteria

Essential:
01.Completion of, at least, Certificate 3 in Allied Health Assistance from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Completion of Cert IV in Allied Health Assistance OR Cert IV in Fitness or equivalent training and experience in fitness with older adults is also highly desirable.

Essential:
02.Experience working with older people, people with disabilities and their carers in community and residential aged care is highly desirable

Essential:
03.An understanding of health and related issues for older people, people with disabilities, and their carers

Desirable:
04.Demonstrated ability to respond effectively and positively in changing environments

Desirable:
05.Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team as well as independently

Desirable:
06.Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, motivated and to manage time effectively

07.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across client, community and professional groups
