Role: Senior Occupational Health and Safety Consultant, Compliance and Engagement - Determinations unit, Policy & Regulation unit (Role until - 30 June 2021)

Position Summary: 

Senior Occupational Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for continuing to develop and improve the current safety management system at an operational level while providing advice, coaching and a support service to Senior Authorised Officers, Team Leaders, Authorised Officers and other stakeholders on health, safety and wellbeing matters to assist the Compliance and Enforcement Command to work safely.


  • Development of written OHS policy, procedures, and advice.
  • Preparation of timely, accurate, clear, succinct written communications under tight deadlines.
  • Facilitate the flow of information, requests and actions to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain corporate information systems for records management, data, memos, and correspondence.
  • Provide high-level administrative and project support to assist with service delivery, operational projects, and other initiatives.
  • Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports on complex matters.
  • Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines. 
  • Operate in a complex and demanding operational environment, exercise sound judgement, liaise effectively with team members and build positive relationships with key people.
  • Set clearly defined objectives and priorities and operate accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required, and identify processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and coordinate their implementation.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach.
  • Take utmost care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
