Position Title: Clinical Nurse Consultant Level 2 – PANDA

Employment Type: Permanent Part-time

Hours per week: 20 hours per week (0.53 FTE)

Salary: 117,318.30 - 119,650.68 AUD Annual (based on 1.0 FTE)

Enterprise Agreement: Named NSW (non-declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Nurses Agreement, 2017

Department Name: Psychiatric, Alcohol and Non-prescription Drug Assessment (PANDA) Unit

Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated CNC with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary health care team so as to achieve goals and health outcomes.

Providing specialist AOD Consultation Liaison (CL) for patients admitted to the PANDA Unit and ED.

Working with patients and other multidisciplinary team members to develop a management plan.

Identifying deteriorating patients, providing appropriate care and escalating appropriately

Liaising with the patient’s General Practitioner(s) and relevant treating Medical and psychiatric teams to ensure ongoing care in the community following discharge.

Conducting training of staff in clinical topics relevant to the model of care.

Provide nursing consultant level advice and support on the management of substance use disorders and critical care.

The PANDA unit is an exciting new inpatient ward to the St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Darlinghurst Campus. The core business of the PANDA unit is to care for patients with alcohol or other drug intoxication or behavioral disturbance with co-existing general medical, drug and alcohol, toxicological and/or mental health issues including discharge planning.

Selection Criteria

Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries

Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency

At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition who has approved post registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within the interdisciplinary team and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development

Demonstrated high level computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system

Demonstrated high level effective communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a registered nurse

Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads with in a complex environment
