JOB DESCRIPTION

Latrobe Regional Hospital is Gippsland's specialist referral and trauma centre located 150km east of Melbourne and provides a fantastic regional lifestyle with easy access to Melbourne.


LRH is a purpose-built teaching hospital caring for a population of more than 260,000 people and is one of the region's largest employers with more than 1900 staff.


We offer medical services such as elective surgery, emergency care, aged care, obstetrics, mental health , pharmacy, rehabilitation and medical and radiation oncology.


We are currently seeking Emergency Medicine Advanced Trainees to join our Emergency Medicine & Intensive Care teams.


The role will be based in the Emergency Department with the option of a 3-month or 6-month rotation in Intensive Care at Latrobe Regional Hospital Critical Care Unit. This role will be suitable for 12 months ACEM accreditation including the mandatory 6 months’ critical care component required for ACEM fellowship.


Latrobe Regional Hospital Emergency Department has 29 points of care including 3 Resus cubicles and a 12 bed Short Stay Unit. LRH is the regional trauma hospital for Gippsland with around 44,000 patients per year, of these approximately 7000 are paediatric with a 20% admission rate.


A major redevelopment was completed at the end of 2017 which saw a new and expanded Emergency Department open. The redevelopment also included a cardiac catheterisation laboratory.


LRH ICU is a 14-bed mix intensive care, high dependency and coronary care unit with over 1000 admissions a year with a wide medical and surgical case mix. The unit supports a broad range of critical care services including invasive and non-invasive ventilation, renal replacement therapy. LRH ICU is accredited for CICM foundation training and ACEM mandatory critical care training.


Applicants should have unconditional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and be an accredited Advanced Trainee with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine.
