Swan Hill Medical Group is a family-orientated medical practice that respects the diversity of all individuals and families and has been servicing the township of Swan Hill, and smaller surrounding townships for over 40 years.

Are you a passionate nurse keen to work in general practice, and love providing the best possible care to your community? Then come join this family-orientated friendly GP practice working as part of a team to deliver quality primary care nursing with a multidisciplinary approach.

Every day will be different and will see you support all areas of practice nursing rotating across triage, procedures, and health checks. You will be involved with GP-led procedures, diabetes education, health programs, smoking cessation, aged care, travel medicine, breast care, and cervical screening. A large volume of chronic disease, wound care and dressings, and immunisations from childhood to travel vaccines.

You will care for a varied patient demographic which is typical for a rural community, with high evidence of chronic disease and mainly elderly with some young families.

Key Essential Criteria: (Please address this in your cover letter)

  • Tertiary Division 1 qualifications, with current AHPRA registration
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in general practice nursing and be a qualified nurse immuniser or currently studying towards this.
  • Understanding of the MBS – especially in relation to Chronic Disease & Primary Care Nurse item numbers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedural guidelines that have legal implications
  • Demonstrated patient-focused approach in service provision with genuine empathy and interest in their needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all ages and social groups.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and independently & ability to prioritise and organise, with attention to detail & accuracy, being prepared to double-check as necessary.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Permanent residency- no students or visas
Nurses with less than 1-year experience of working within the Australian general practice or hospital system cannot be short-listed.
