Role: AO Policy Officer, Compliance and Engagement - Determinations unit, Policy & Regulation unit (Role until - 30 June 2021)

Position Summary: 

The AO Policy Officer primarily works within a team that seeks the endorsement of the Secretary or delegate to appoint Authorised Officers (AO) under s30 of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 and the endorsement of the Victoria Chief Health Officer to authorised the AO to exercise powers under s190 and s200.

Work will involve preparing the memos and instruments for appointment and authorisation as well as the revocations. On cessation of employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and contribute to projects and policy analyses relating to the coordination and implementation of COVID-19 Authorised Officer (AO) initiative.
  • Preparation of timely, accurate, clear, succinct written communications under tight deadlines.
  • Facilitate the flow of information, requests and actions to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain corporate information systems for records management, data, memos, and correspondence.
  • Provide high-level administrative and project support to assist with service delivery, operational projects, and other initiatives.
  • Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports on complex matters.
  • Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines. 
  • Operate in a complex and demanding operational environment, exercise sound judgement, liaise effectively with team members and build positive relationships with key people.
  • Set clearly defined objectives and priorities and operate accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required, and identify processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and coordinate their implementation.
  • Be flexible, well organised, responsive, who can also work autonomously and a part of a team, with the ability to plan and organise work according to key business priorities.
