Lived Experience Training Project Officer

Your new team



  • NorthWestern Mental Health is one of the largest providers of Mental Health Services in Victoria. Our multi-disciplinary workforce of skilled and dynamic clinicians and consumer/carer advisors, provide a recovery-oriented approach to care.

  • We are dedicated to providing a caring and high quality range of specialist, community and hospital-based mental health services for youth, adult and aged people who are experiencing, or are at risk of developing a serious mental illness.

  • The Mental Health Training and Development Unit work together to translate facilitated learning into improved practice for staff across North Western Mental Health

  • We enjoy a collaborative working environment that is underpinned by values of mutual respect.

  • You will help us achieve a system for the Lived Experience perspective being more fully incorporated in our workforce development opportunities

  • In return, you will be supported to develop your career aspirations in the dynamic field of Mental Health Lived Experience.


Your success in this role, will be in your ability to



  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new evidenced based training activities to address identified gaps in existing training and professional development programs

  • Contribute to the ongoing strategy for including a lived experience perspective in workforce development programs


Your Contribution



  • A personal lived experience of accessing mental health services

  • An ability to work within the principles of consumer leadership and participation

  • Knowledge of mental health issues and the impact on a person’s life across diverse groups

  • Ability to work across a large organisation, organize work load and manage time effectively

  • Proven ability in engaging with key stakeholder groups

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Sound skills in the use of the internet and a variety of software packages including: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
