The role

Occupational Therapists at Djerriwarrh Health Services fulfil a diverse role working across acute, outpatient subacute and community programs from our Melton, Bacchus Marsh & Caroline Springs sites. Individual clinical services and group-based interventions are provided, supporting patient care as part of the multidisciplinary team.

The Grade 3 Occupational Therapist has a key leadership role in the provision, organisation and development of occupational therapy services across the organisation. You will provide clinical support and supervision to members of the occupational therapy team which is made up of 9 Occupational Therapists (Grade 1 & 2) and 3 Allied Health Assistants. You will represent occupational therapy at relevant organisational committees. In collaboration with the Manager Allied Health Programs, you will support the delivery of occupational therapy services and actively work to ensure a culture of evidence-based practice and patient-centred care across the team.

This role is suitable for an experienced occupational therapist seeking an opportunity to develop leadership skills as a senior clinician in a supportive team environment.

The successful applicant will be required to manage a clinical caseload, which can be negotiated based on experience and interest. Travel between DjHS sites within Melton, Caroline Springs and Bacchus Marsh will be required.

Key accountabilities will be to:
  • Be a dynamic leader within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrate a client focus in the provision of care
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and innovation in improving clinical services
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • Manage a complex caseload with a high turnover
  • Support the supervision of occupational therapy staff, AHA's and students
The successful applicant must have:
  • Tertiary qualification in occupational therapy
  • Current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Professional Registration Authority)
  • At least 7 years of experience in occupational therapy service provision, with previous experience in community-based Occupational Therapy services preferred
