JOB DESCRIPTION

An opportunity exists for Career Medical Officer to be part of the Urgent Care Centre at Mona Vale Hospital.

Position Classification: Career Medical Officer
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Hours Per Week: up to 38

Purpose of the Position

To carry out the assessment of patients presenting to the Urgent Care Centre at Mona Vale Hospital.

To co-ordinate and facilitate diagnosis, management and discharge for patients presenting to the Urgent Care Centre.
To co-ordinate transfer of patients who require admission to the Northern Beaches Hospital.
To attend afterhours clinical reviews and rapid response calls from the Aged Care Rehabilitation Unit and Beachside Rehabilitation Unit, implement appropriate management and care in consultation with the Admitting Medical Officer and transfer to the Northern Beaches Hospital as appropriate.
To provide supervision and support as required to the Resident Medical Officers rostered to work afterhours weekday shifts in the Aged Care and Beachside Rehabilitation Units.
Carry out such other duties not inconsistent with the Award or terms of employment as may be specified or implied from time to time. Any other duties at the direction of the General Manager / Director of Medical Services.
Liaise with the General Manager / Director of Medical Services / JMO Manager regarding any problems which may arise in the exercise of these duties.

Selection Criteria * Evidence of Medical Degree and currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia or eligible for such medical registration. Applicants should have a minimum of five years post-graduate experience with previous clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Orthopaedics and/or General Practice.

  • Demonstrated clinical competency and ability to independently manage patients

  • Demonstrated experience in Blood gas analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in Plastering and suturing
