Your New Team



  • The Aged Persons’ Mental Health Program (APMHP) provides information, support and specialist mental health services to older people aged 65 and over.

  • The APMHP is committed to working with consumers during their recovery by offering holistic and evidence based treatment, which is inclusive of family/carers and provided by clinicians with well-developed skills.

  • The APMHP consists of three acute inpatient units (APMHU), three Aged Psychiatric Assessment & Treatment Teams (APATT), one Intensive Community Treatment (ICT) and a Behaviour and Specialist Intervention Consultation Service (BASICS)

  • The incumbent will be based at Northern APATT and will attend Bundoora APMHU for providing psychology input.

  • We are a caring, cohesive and dynamic multi-disciplinary team that values the specific contributions of clinical psychologists.

Your succes in this role will be in our ability to



  • Triaging and assessing new referrals requesting Clinical Psychology input for current consumers within the local APMHP community and acute settings.

  • Coordinating and planning the needs of consumers on your case load, and regularly liaising with the key clinicians or the treatment teams.

  • Engaging with consumers and their families/carers in a mixture of settings – acute inpatient, outreach and outpatient.

  • Development and delivery of recovery focused care along with other evidenced based interventions specifically and individually targeted to the consumers identified needs.


Your Contribution



  • A clinician with at least two years’ post graduate experience, you have a passion for caring and making a genuine difference in the lives of public mental health consumers.

  • You are committed to continued learning and broadening of your skills and can demonstrate strong knowledge of evidence based interventions appropriate to low prevalence disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorder and substance abuse.

  • You enjoy being part of a dynamic team yet are confident to work autonomously and assume leadership.

  • You collaborate and communicate clearly and effectively and are comfortable managing up and down.
