Position Summary:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Technical Officer in Microbiology. The successful applicant should have a positive, progressive approach and will work with a team of technical and scientific staff whose primary function is the production of timely, high quality laboratory results.

This role is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of microbiology services for St Vincent’s Hospital campus, SydPath collection centres and other major clients.

Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care.

The position will involve rostered shift work including rostered weekend work

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Have appropriate tertiary qualifications in a scientific or technical field relevant to microbiology.
3. Experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory.
4. Perform all allocated tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
5. Communicate effectively and work as an effective team member
6. Perform other duties as required.
7. Agreement to be a shift worker, flexibility in working hours and participation in 7-day and on call roster.
