Position Summary:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Nurse Unit Manager with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to coordinate the patient journey and have oversight over the procedures and management governing the daily operations of the unit. Additionally, the successful applicant will be responsible for the budget and human resource management of the unit, and ensure they maintain a patient flow and patient care focus.

Rankin Court Treatment Centre (RCTC) is a specialised community based Opioid Treatment Program for people with opioid use dependence. The service provides daily supervised administration of medication as well as drug and alcohol assessment, medication management, care coordination and education using a harm minimisation framework. RCTC is part of the Alcohol and Drug Service. RCTC provides outpatient opioid pharmacotherapy treatment, 7 days per week, and is one of seven clinical units of the Alcohol and Drug Service at St Vincent’s Hospital which includes the Alcohol and Drug Information Service (ADIS – state-wide telephone service), Stimulant Services, Outpatients, Alcohol and Drug Hospital Liaison, Gorman Unit (residential detoxification) and the Psychiatry and Non-Prescription Drug and Alcohol (PANDA) Unit . Working within a harm minimisation framework, the suitable candidate will take a clinical leadership role within the multidisciplinary team in managing clients’ opioid dependency, and other psychosocial factors related to their health and welfare.

Selection Criteria
  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
  • Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency
  • Recognised post graduate tertiary qualification in a clinical speciality or management (or willingness to undertake same within 12 months) or equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated operational, financial, human resource, workplace health and safety and effective communication / interpersonal skills experience at departmental level
  • Ability to deliver evidenced based, patient centred care within a complex environment
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement principles, clinical policy and procedure development and implementation, and a good understanding of current nursing issues
  • Computer literacy in MS Word/Excel, Email and an electronic medical record / referral system
  • Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice
