About the role
South West Healthcare's (SWH) Medical directorate has a Hospital Medical Officer Year 2 (HMO2) position available, rotating through several PMCV accredited clinical disciplines of Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, Rehabilitation, Paediatrics and Women's Health.
This full time HMO2 position is available from July 2021 until February 2023.

As a HMO2 holding a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) recognised and registered by the Medical Board of Australia, you will have developed experience and skills delivering safe, high quality patient care. You will be committed to working in an interdisciplinary team and ongoing learning and self- development, with an ability to seek advice when necessary.

South West Healthcare is a fully integrated facility with a total of 282 beds (216 acute, 36 aged care and 30 mental health). Warrnambool Campus (212 beds) provides acute, rehabilitation and mental health care, together with extensive outpatient and community services. Wards include medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, six bed critical care unit, dialysis, emergency, inpatient psychiatry, GEM and rehabilitation. There are three fully equipped operating theatres and a separate endoscopy suite.
Our hospital is considered one of the most modern and technologically advanced health services in regional Australia. This enables us to provide world best-practice treatment, care and support to a catchment population of 110,000 spread across 10,323 square kilometres. Only three hours drive from Melbourne with a direct train service four times per day, there are excellent facilities for education from preschool to university level, and opportunities to participate in all areas of the creative arts and sport. SWH has approximately 16,000 admissions and over 26,500 emergency department attendances per year.
