We conduct clinical placements for a variety of education providers, across various sites, providing undergraduate nursing and midwifery students with supported, positive and diverse learning experiences.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a registered nurse with recent clinical experience in Medical/Surgical and/ or critical care areas to join the Nursing and Midwifery Education & Strategy team (NaMES). We require a highly skilled clinician with a passion for education who will be responsible for providing clinical and educational support to nursing undergraduate students on clinical placement across Monash Health, mainly in the medical/surgical areas.

This position is full time, Monday - Friday and will commence in May 2021. It is an ongoing position. The successful applicant will be required to work across all sites when necessary, however will be predominately based with the NaMES undergraduate program at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton.

Some of the specific accountabilities will include:

  • Provision of contemporary education that promotes best practice standards
  • Clinical bedside support to undergraduate nursing students including Bachelor of Nursing and Diploma of Nursing students in aged care, sub acute and/ or medical/ surgical settings.
  • Demonstrating and promoting best practice standards
  • The ability to create learning opportunities empowering education
  • Helping to ensure that through a highly skilled and educated workforce our patients receive safe and high-quality care
  • Effective communication and escalation
  • Working collaboratively with the leadership team including the multi-disciplinary team

About You

Essential:

You are a highly skilled nursing clinician with well-developed engagement, communication and collaboration skills. You have a passion for and experience in supporting learners, a commitment to quality clinical care and sound clinical skills.

  • Current registration with NMBA
  • Understanding of different learning and teaching styles
  • Working with Children check, Police check and Aged Care Statutory Declaration or ability/ willingness to undertake these requirements.
  • Recent and relevant clinical experience

In addition, the following will be highly regarded:

  • Completion of, or working towards postgraduate qualifications
  • Certificate IV in workplace training and assessment or working towards
  • A sound understanding of clinical supervision and clinical assessment
