What you'll be doing Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist services for optimal patient outcomes.
Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.
You will be employed by Southern NSW Local Health District. The position is primarily located at Kenmore Hospital. Secondary appointments within other facilities may occur by mutual agreement.
The Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) (Older Persons) Psychiatrist will provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a Southern Local Health District (SNSW - LHD) Psychogeriatric Unit Kenmore Hospital facility under their care. This care will be provided within the scope of practice granted by the (SNSW - LHD) Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee
The Psychiatrist will have a role in providing direct clinical care to the target client population with involvement of family/carers where appropriate. In addition there will be a role in providing education and supervision to other team members including junior medical staff.

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist (Older Persons specialty), and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  2. Recognised specialist qualifications i.e. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
  3. Evidence, after full registration, of no less than five years in the practice of medicine in New South Wales Health System or in any other institution deemed by the SNSW LHD to be of equivalent standing inclusive no less than three years in supervised specialist training and/or experience
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  5. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, and research and quality improvement.
