Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is the major provider of specialist health services in the Gippsland region, east of Melbourne.  Our comprehensive range of services extends to emergency and intensive care, elective surgery, allied health, obstetrics, medical and radiation oncology at the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, dialysis and aged care.

LRH has a number of outstanding facilities following a recent expansion. These include a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, large Emergency Department, endoscopy suites and modern and contemporary inpatient units. These complement extensive Allied Health amenities including a gym and pool.

LRH is the regional provider of mental health services in Gippsland. LRH Mental Health Service operates an integrated specialist mental health program across the region and provides inpatient and community mental health care for adults, children and young people and older persons.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Mental Health Cclinical Educator to join the Education and Training Unit (ETU) team at Latrobe Regional Hospital on a permanent Part TimeTerm basis for 40 hours per fortnight.

Reporting to the Psychiatric Nurse Consultant professionally and the ETU manager operationally the successful applicant will play a role critical in the professional development of all disciplines across child and youth, adult, aged and specialist mental health programs.

The successful applicant is critical in the co-design, co-production and delivery of training with clinical educator colleagues in the Education Training Unit (ETU) and will be required to:

  • Act as a professional role model for all clinical staff.

  • Assess the competency level of mental health services staff through evidence based teaching and learning methods.

  • Plan, implement and evaluate education programs based on the mental health workforce development plan and DHHS priorities including those from the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist and the Victorian Chief Mental Health Nurse.

  • Ensure staff are up to date with mandatory education requirements and facilitate access and support to these sessions.

  • Coordinate and support specific organisational wide portfolios including graduate teaching and learning, specialist education and other state-wide activities including but not limited to Safewards, Mental Health Intensive Care and Mental Health Nursing Clinical Supervision.

  • Co-design, co-produce, deliver and evaluate education packages with Lived Experience representatives and facilitate mental health education programs across the service.

  • Promote a culture/environment of continuous learning and/or evidence based practice.

 To be successful in this position you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Registered Nurse Division 1* or 3 (Where relevant).

  • Degree of a recognised school of Occupational Therapy or to be eligible to be a member of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Where relevant).

  • Degree in Social Work eligibility or other qualification acceptable for membership to the AASW (Where relevant).

  • Appropriate qualification in Psychology, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Where relevant).

  • Cert IV in education and training or higher qualification.

  • Current Victorian Driver’s License.

  • Receiving formal Clinical Supervision
