About the role

The Palliative CareVisiting Medical Officer provides senior clinical support to the outpatient operations of the palliative care service and is responsible for escalated patient assessment and support of multidisciplinary management of complex palliative care patients. The VMO also contributes to departmental activities, including multidisciplinary team meetings, education and quality improvement activities to improve outcomes for patients and families accessing palliative care services.

What you bring

  • Primary medical degree registrable with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with fellowship of the Chapter of Palliative Medicine or Diploma in Palliative Care.
  • Demonstrated high level clinical assessment, communication and organisational skills, applicable in the care of patients and carers with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a culture of respectful collaboration.
  • Commitment to customer service and quality assurance programs, including data collection, research and benchmarking (Palliative Care Outcomes Collaborative).
  • Participation in continuing professional development.
  • Current Class 1A drivers licence.
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
