The Royal Melbourne Hospital

Your new team

  • The role is based at Broadmeadows Continuing care Units but also services Community and inpatient consumers in NWAMHS catchment area

  • Broadmeadows Community care unit (BCCU) provides a specialized residential mental health services for people aged between 16 and 64 years of age who reside in the Western and North-Western regions of Melbourne.

  • Clinical services are provided to people with mental health disorders within the community, and within an inpatient setting for episodes of acute disorder.

  • The clinical program offers specialist interventions for a range of disorders including psychosis and mood disorders, co-morbid substance use and personality disorders. Services include psycho-social rehabilitation, evidence based practice and assessment. 

  • The CCU provides a multi-disciplinary approach to individual case management, group and family therapy interventions, community consultation and education.

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Engage consumers and staff

  • Work closely with the Physical Health Team to work towards combatting obesity and improving the health of mental health consumers

  • Provide advice, assessment and health coaching to consumers

  • Develop plans for consumers that can be implemented in a setting of the their choice

  • Educate staff and supervise students

Your Contribution

  • You are an influential leader with a track record of driving change across a complex health care environment.

  • Membership and Accreditation with the Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA)

  • Minimum of two years clinical experience

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal (including conflict resolution and negotiation)

  • Demonstrated clinical competence in Exercise Physiology in a public health or community health setting

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and modelling of interdisciplinary practice

  • Ability to impart knowledge to staff at all levels as well as members of the wider community

  • Previous participation in service development and innovation
