About the Role

We are currently seeking applications for the full-time (37.5 hours per week) role of Elder Abuse Prevention Support Service (EAPSS) Practitioner located at our Mackay venue.

The purpose of this position is to provide a high standard of case management and counselling to the individuals, couples and families impacted by elder abuse. The role also aims to promote and raise awareness of the signs of elder abuse via community education activities.

Some of the key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Provide a responsive service to EAPSS clients who are seeking to engage with the program. Ensure case management and referral processes are undertaken in a timely manner
  • Provide accurate and timely information and advice to EAPSS clients, including access to information regarding Elder Abuse and options available.
  • Display sensitivity in the management and coordination of cases, underpinned by a demonstrated understanding of theoretical knowledge of Elder Abuse.
  • Provide timely risk and needs assessment with the consideration of client’s capacity for decision making.
  • Coordinate and monitor referrals for legal information, advice and support. Support clients to engage with legal services
  • Provide empathetic and non- judgmental counselling to individuals impacted by the Elder Abuse.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in the community as part of the case management process.
  • Actively participate in organising meetings with key stakeholders to promote awareness of the EAPSS program and services offered through community education.
  • Attend regular community engagement events including designated network and community meetings.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will hold undergraduate level qualifications the social or behavioural sciences, coupled with experience delivering counselling in a variety of settings and applying a case management framework within complex cases. Demonstrated experience in working with or having an understanding of aged care support particularly related to Elder Abuse is highly desired.

The salary being offered is circa $71 760 to $85 955 per annum, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation and generous salary packaging options which will significantly increase the value of take-home pay. Other attractive benefits are available including additional annual leave over the Christmas period, annual leave loading and study leave.
