An exciting opportunity for an experienced Ethics and Governance Submissions Officer to join the Medical and Cognitive Research Unit (MCRU) in a part-time fixed term position (READVERTISED). We are seeking someone for 24hrs per week with the possiblity of increased hours.

About our Centre


The Medical and Cognitive Research Unit
(MCRU) is located at the Repatriation Hospital Campus of Austin Health and is tiered within the Continuing Care Clinical Service Unit under the Aged Care Services. It is the largest dementia clinical trials centre in the southern hemisphere, and one of the largest in the world.


MCRU has a strong and successful history in conducting numerous clinical trials in various neurodegenerative disorders with a majority of the trials focusing on Alzheimer’s Disease.


About the Role


The successful applicant will become part of an established team and will be responsible for the HREC/RGO requirements of all clinical trials. To ensure compliance with ethics and governance related components of the trials, to meet local and international regulatory requirements and requirements of the sponsoring companies.


Duties/Responsibilities


  • Coordinate and manage the HREC/RGO requirements of MCRU for a number of trials concurrently

  • Ensuring compliance with ethics and governance related components, to meet local ICH-GCP guidelines and requirements of the sponsoring companies

  • Ensure accurate and timely submissions and the maintenance of essential documents

  • Liaise with MCRU Manager, Investigators and Study Co-ordinators regarding HREC/RGO matters


Qualifications/Skills/Experience


  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline (BSc or equivalent) with a working knowledge of medical terminology/scientific language) or demonstrated experience as a Research Ethics and Governance Officer position at another institution

  • Demonstrated understanding of Clinical Trial Research Agreements

  • Awareness of ICH-GCP Guidelines and relevant regulatory guidelines.

  • Excellent team working skills, with ability to work independently

  • Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and contribute to the research team.

  • Developed computer literacy skills and familiarity with Office 365
