We are the largest, most comprehensive Aboriginal Medical Health Service in Queensland. What we offer:
Total package being $88,958 (this is the amount base salary + super + salary packaging benefits)
Base rate of $77,567 per annum
Superannuation approximately $7,368 annually
Salary packaging benefits of $15,900 living expenses (e.g. mortgage repayments) and $2650 meal/entertainment. With a potential additional benefit of $4,023 on top of your base salary
17.5% Annual Leave Loading

As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the Youth Specialist is expected to personally contribute to the shaping and achievement of ATSICHS vision and goals within their own scope. The Youth Specialist will provide three (3) Key Functions.

Role Functions

The Youth Specialist provides tailored case management services for young people at risk of disconnecting with their family/ community, disengagement from education, training and employment, homelessness, or at risk of harm. Youth Specialists are responsible for effective engagement with young people, their families and their support network to identify the young person’s needs and aspirations, and record and progress a plan created and led by the young person, and oversight of the team for same. Youth Specialists act as the main ‘point-of-contact’ for the young person and their family, and work in partnership to facilitate supports required to achieve their goals. Youth Specialists develop, implement and execute the care plan of young people, and coordinate a wrap-around suite of services with the aim to achieve the four (4) program objectives –

  • connect to positive family support
  • get a job or engage in training or education
  • lead a healthy and violence-free life
  • have a safe, stable place to live.
Youth Specialists ultimately assist young people to realize increased self-worth, family and community connectedness, and safety, delivering a service underpinned by customer service principles. Youth Specialists are experienced and proven high performing case managers, who also assist the Youth Manager in oversight of service delivery and continuous improvement.

Skills and Experiences:

Current Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention or Criminology with 4 years’ relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support or related field


Current Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, Child and Family Intervention with 5 years’ relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support or related field


At least 3 years of abovementioned experience in a case management role

Additional Requirements:
  • Requirement to travel across the Logan and/or Brisbane region, as per program location.
  • Current drivers’ license
  • Requirement to work outside core 9am-5pm business hours in meeting individual client needs and provide responsive care.
  • Working with Children’s Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply
  • Requirement to work 1-2 night outreach shifts a week, when required.
