About the Service/Role


The program has Five PARCS (Preventions and Recovery Care Services) which includes a specialist Women’s only PARCs, an Extended Care PARCs (EPARC) and Youth PARCS. The clinical service is supported by an aligned operational structure to enable the provision of high quality service through the creation of clinical-operational partnerships to support staff, consumers, carers and their families, and a strong professional structure that supports the governance of the health professional workforce.


These unique psychology positions will be located across the Clayton PARCS and Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, P Block.


The positions will endeavour to provide advanced psychological services, maintains an active case-load, and delivers a front-line psychological service response to consumers at Clayton Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit, P Block and Clayton PARCS.


P Block is an acute inpatient psychiatric unit that provides psychiatric assessment and treatment to adult consumers (aged 25-64 years) who are acutely unwell due to a relapse of their mental illness or other mental health issues and are unable to receive assessment and treatment a less restrictive environment. Clayton PARCS (Prevention and Recovery Care Services) is a 10-bed facility, offering short-term stays (2-4 weeks) focused on assisting consumers in meeting their identified recovery goals. Clayton PARCS is operated in partnerships with an NGO.


The purpose of the position is to provide evidence-based, best practice psychological assessments and interventions for a diverse range of mental health issues experienced by consumers in the service. The position also provides secondary consultation to the team and other relevant stakeholders regarding the formulation, treatment and management of consumers in the service. This position is: operationally directly accountable to the Nurse Unit Manager, P Block and the ACIS Manager; clinically reports to the Consultant Psychiatrist(s) or other Medical Lead where appropriate; and is professionally accountable to the Psychology Discipline Senior and/or other psychology professional lead.
