Role Overview
Reporting to the Team Leader Positive Ageing and Inclusion, the Active Ageing Officer will play a key role in demonstrating a strong commitment to building resilient communities and developing a healthy and safe environment for people to live and work. This role will provide administration and business support to the Coordinator Social Participation to ensure programs and activities are planned, booked, and promoted accordingly, to enable a positive customer experience. As the Active Ageing Officer, you will provide support to volunteers, and facilitate information sessions and workshops, to encourage independence and social connectedness. With an administration focus, your role will include recording and maintaining client documentation, updating My Aged Care portal, compiling evaluations, and providing information and resources to Neighbourhood Centre staff and volunteers. This dynamic role will also see you providing team member role coverage enabling smooth daily operations and maintained client care.

About the Person
To be considered for this role you will bring a confident and friendly manner underpinned by a passion for community wellbeing and development. You will be experienced working in fast pace environments and will embrace the opportunity to work in a multi-skilled and dynamic team where flexibility is a must. To be successful in the role you will have previous experience working with vulnerable and diverse community members enabling you to understand complex needs. Knowledge of the Commonwealth Home Support Program would be advantageous, as well as a tertiary qualification in Community Services, Business Administration Certificate III or similar.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience with audit processes or other quality reporting mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of Wellbeing and Resilience philosophy and willingness to undertake training.
  • High level customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Understanding of the aged care sector and its client group.
  • Knowledge of SMS Database and My Aged Care (MAC) Portal or similar.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the use of current computer software, in particular proficiency in maintaining databases.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to new work practices within changing priorities and work environment.
  • Working in partnership with organisations and other community groups.
  • Australian residency.
  • Driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
  • A satisfactory Department for Human Services (DHS) Child Related, Disability and Aged Care Sector Employment Screening on commencement and every three years after.

This is a full-time contract opportunity until June 2022 where your hours will typically be from 8:30am – 5pm Monday to Friday and some out of normal working hours will be required to fulfil your role.
