Community Mental Health Clinician – Alcohol and Other Drugs



  • Full time 1.0 EFT rotating roster – P2, SW2, OT2, RPN2

Your new team



The IWAMHS and Community Team 1 is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team who hold the homeless person’s portfolio for IWAMHS. The team are located at the RMH city campus.



  • We aim to empower consumers to make their own choices about their treatment and recovery with an emphasis on strengthening their internal resources to move forward.

  • CT1 works hard to create external links in the community for ongoing support.

  • Community Team 1 holds the Homeless portfolio which extends to and includes the Homeless Response Portfolio (MHaP) which relies on strong partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

  • We are a passionate group of people who love to work hard offering evidenced based services.


Your success in this role, will be in your ability to



  • You must have 3 years’ experience in the field of psychiatry and / or alcohol and other drugs.

  • You are able to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and enjoy working autonomously.

  • Capacity to undertake alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, treatment planning and brief interventions with clients who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

  • A willingness to contribute to the IWAMHS portfolio for AoD.


Your Contribution



  • Possess formal qualifications and registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker.

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of mental illness and the assessment of disorders including relevant legislation pertinent to the role.
