About Department
St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne is part of the North East Metropolitan Cluster (NEMC), a group of health services that also includes Austin Health, Eastern Health, Northern Health, The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Mercy Hospital for Women and Forensicare. On behalf of our Cluster partners, SVHM is leading the Better@Home initiative; a Victorian Government-funded initiative to improve the delivery of home-based health care.

The Project Director, North East Metro Cluster Better@Home will be based at SVHM within the Strategy & Planning Department but will be responsible for leading the NEMC Better@Home initiative on behalf of all cluster partners.

About the Role
As the Project Director, NEMC Better Care @ Home you will lead and coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of the agreed cluster home-based and virtual care initiatives. You will be responsible for confirming the Vision, scope and approach for the NEMC Better @ Home initiative, for engaging and supporting clinical leadership across the Cluster, establishing and managing project governance structures and leading a small Team to support the delivery of the Cluster Better @ Home Vision.

Base classification for this position is a HS4 plus an over award. (Annual salary is $154k - pro rate for part time role)


  • Lead and coordinate the Project, including project establishment and planning, delivery management and monitoring, to ensure delivery against project objectives and to satisfy stakeholder expectations

  • Engage and build relationships with key project stakeholders including cluster representatives, clinical leaders, DHHS and health sector stakeholders

  • Identify and manage project risk

  • Establish and manage project governance, including establishment of processes and structures to ensure strong governance and delivery against agreed commitments;

  • Lead and support clear and consistent project communication, both within and external to the Cluster.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience in project management within the health sector

  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement including capacity to engage and influence at all levels

  • Proven working style which is flexible, positive and collaborative

  • Strong, well developed project management, planning and organisation skills

  • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in negotiation, networking and conflict resolution

  • High level conceptual and analytic skills, particularly in the areas of project management

  • Proven ability to work under pressure, balance multiple priorities, prioritise workload and meet deadlines

  • Ability to think laterally with problem solving ability and initiative
