ABOUT THE ROLE Counsellor - Mercy Palliative Care

Summary of the role: We are seeking a counsellor to respond to the psychosocial needs of clients supported by Mercy Palliative Care and work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team. Counselling is provided along the continuum of palliative care and bereavement support in people's homes and office locations.

  • Permanent part time (48 hours per fortnight)
  • Counselling and psychosocial support to patients and families
  • Supportive and friendly Allied Health team
  • Position rotates across three offices Sunshine, Parkville and Werribee as required

ABOUT YOU:

  • Recognised qualifications in counselling, minimum Diploma level
  • Experience in grief and loss counselling across a diverse community
  • Experience in psychosocial assessments and relevant interventions (desirable)
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, dedicated, team orientated & effective communication skills

Mercy Palliative Care is a community palliative care service operating in the Western region of Melbourne and provides a holistic multidisciplinary approach to palliative care. We provide psychological and spiritual support, caring for people of all ages with life-limiting illnesses in their homes as well as complex symptom management. We currently care for over 600 patients across the region in their own homes.
