About Department

The Strategy and Planning Department provides high level business consulting and strategic advisory services to St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) to support strategic planning, service planning, capital planning and business development across our organisation. Our Department also has a strong focus on partnership and relationship development, including government relations at both the State and Federal level. The Strategy & Planning team coordinates strategic and business planning reporting required by SVHA and for the State Government. Strategy and Planning have a key role in shaping our organisation’s strategic directions and in supporting our organisation to deliver on these objectives.

About the Role

This role requires a dynamic and highly experienced strategy, planning and project management specialist with a strong track record in the health sector. Your key objective is to drive the development and delivery of the strategic and service plans for St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne to optimally position St Vincent’s now, and into the future. You will work closely with the Executive Director Strategy and Planning to support, advise and influence the wider leadership team. You will do this by leading the Strategy and Planning team; engaging with and supporting managers and clinical staff to achieve key business, growth, development and strategic priorities. You will employ your strategic, analytical and communication skills along with planning and project management tools and techniques to ensure a rigorous approach to improving performance and outcomes. You will facilitate growth, innovation, best practice and service development across the organisation.

You have strong written and verbal communication skills, adept a stakeholder management and a highly developed understanding of the drivers of the health industry.

This role is based at SVHM’s Fitzroy campus. Some inter-campus travel may be required.

Classification for this position will be a HS7 + over award allowance. (Total base salary $175K)

Duties

  • Conceptualise, plan and develop organisational strategy and specific service strategies and plans as required to facilitate the growth and ongoing development of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.

  • Work collaboratively with business owners to develop plans to grow and reform clinical and support services.

  • Lead major service and capital planning projects in the planning phases to ensure delivery against project objectives and to satisfy stakeholder expectations.

  • Provider leadership for strategic capital and facilities planning to ensure optimal current and future use of facilities and a strategic approach to facilities planning.

  • Lead the Enterprise Risk function for St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Highly developed strategy, planning & project management skills with a demonstrated track record of success in the health sector.

  • Demonstrated capability in government and stakeholder engagement including capacity to engage and influence at all levels.

  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills and a demonstrated ability to use data to inform business strategy and development.

  • Superior communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form

  • In depth understanding of the drivers influencing the healthcare sector and an ability to apply this knowledge to the development of strategy
