About Department

St George’s Health Service, located in Kew, provides a comprehensive aged care service, including inpatient care, evaluation and management, residential aged care, rehabilitation, acute psychiatry, as well as a broad range of community-based assessment and treatment services. Support Services provides all Environmental & Food Services to the hospital.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Food Services Assistant (FSA) to join the team on a casual basis.

Under the direction of the Support Services Supervisor, the Food Services Assistant is responsible for the making of all short order food and drink preparation, cleaning and dishwashing patient meal trays. The Food Services Assistant will prepare and produce all short order food and drinks including modified fluids required for the day while being responsible for the relevant working area in accordance with the food safety plan and all production schedules and demands.

Classifications for this position will range from HA1 - HA18 ($46,836 - $48,386 per annum).

Duties

Preparation of short order food/beverages as required

Monitor waste management

Work area is kept clean as per Food Safety standards, kitchen hygiene and cleanliness standards are adhered too, including thorough kitchen cleaning and sanitizing

Informing coordinators of required food stock levels

Carry out food safety monitoring procedures as per department procedures

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Food Safety Certificate HLTFSE001

Previous experience in a commercial kitchen

Previous experience in an Aged Care environment (desirable)

Highly developed Interpersonal and communicational skills

Ability to handle a high volume of work and prioritize accordingly
