The Opportunity
Welfare Recruitment Solutions has been approached to assist recruiting Dementia Care Specialists to provide face to face assessment services to persons living with dementia and their families.
The Role
You will be responsible for case management providing face to face assessment services to persons living with dementia identifying and addressing neuropsychiatric symptoms and concerning cognitive behavioural changes.
You understand that dementia is person-centred and presents complex and unique challenges. Your role will focus on making recommendations relating to BPSD in line with best practice dementia care.
You will additionally guide and support families and clinicians through your recommendations and follow up to ensure that the strategies you recommend are successful.

The Candidate
To be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate:
- Prior experience working very closely with persons living with dementia assessing BPSD/cognitive decline in a senior nursing, speech pathology, occupational therapy or physiotherapy role. Alternatively, you may have worked in a behavioural support specialist role within aged care/dementia and have strong assessment experience.
- Strong understanding of the complex needs of dementia care along with knowledge of different dementia diagnoses.
- Additional dementia behavioural management training or Post Grad qualifications in Dementia Care/Gerontology will be highly regarded.
