Why work for the Lilliane Brady Village?

Working in aged care can be a rewarding and meaningful employment pathway offering boundless opportunities. Aged care is not just about changing bed pans and helping people get out of bed, there are many positions within the industry to suit a variety of skills and personalities – front line support, administration, catering, nursing, recreational activities, grounds keeping, maintenance, cleaning and a range of managerial roles.

Aged care support can definitely be challenging, there is no denying that it is hard work, but as anyone in the industry can attest, there are more gratifying aspects of the job than you ever would have imagined. Getting up to go to work is much easier when you know that what you do has a direct and positive impact on the community, you get to experience the personal satisfaction of knowing that you are doing a job that genuinely makes a difference to the residents’ quality of life.

While the primary focus of aged care workers is treating ailments and delivering quality health care to optimise their health and wellbeing, there is so much more to the practice. Because your workplace is their home, you’ll interact with residents throughout each day, developing relationships, providing emotional support and creating enjoyable recreational activities. The residents will often look for someone to confide in, to help them with an easy task or simply provide a friendly smile. Providing them with a cup of tea and pleasant conversation goes a long way to making a resident’s day more enjoyable.

Gaining a qualification in aged care enables you to work ANYWHERE in Australia with transferable skills in time management, leadership, problem solving, flexibility, compassion, teamwork and communication! The elderly are in need of quality care throughout the whole country which makes it easy to move around and pick up work! There are a variety of shifts that allow employees to work around their own lifestyle with penalty rates for evening shifts and weekend work.

The Lilliane Brady Village mission is to provide flexible, quality care to aged and disabled residents whose needs cannot be met in the wider community, providing a place of security, safety and ongoing care in a welcoming home like atmosphere, which we achieve through a commitment to Council’s core values (ACE IT):

Accountability - We are responsible for our actions, our behaviour and the satisfactory completion of allocated tasks

Communication - We communicate openly and respectfully, sharing timely and appropriate information with others

Effective Leadership - We lead by positive example, embodying all of Council's agreed Values

Integrity - We are consistently honest, transparent, ethical and fair, regardless of the situation

Teamwork - We work collaboratively to achieve shared goals for Council and the community

If you care about your community and want to help make it better, why not forge a career in aged care to become part of a team dedicated to ensuring the independence, choice, dignity and rights of our aged community are maintained.
