JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role

The Maintenance Officer, St Bernadette Aged Care Home in Sunshine, will be responsible for providing generalist preventative and reactive maintenance services to the site whilst maintaining a high standard of compliance and safety inline with Aged Care Accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements. You will also be responsible for the following:

  • The implementation of long term and annual property maintenance schedules and annual capital works programs
  • WHS Compliance, Quality Control & Assurance
  • Budgeting & Cost Control – managing works at sites in line with Board approved annual budget
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Contractor Management and Engagement
  • Undertaking regular Audits & Inspections in conjunction with the Facilities Manager
  • Risk & Hazard Mitigation
  • Ensuring that monthly scheduled and unscheduled tasks are completed within the necessary designated completion times.

Skills & experience

The successful candidates will present with formal Trade qualifications, a proactive approach and outstanding interpersonal skills. You will also demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance such as OHS, WHS Act, Aged Care Act, NCC/BCA - Building Codes of Australia, Australian Essential Safety Measures AS1851, Disability Discrimination Act, Child safe and Equitable Access Acts, standards and Regulation
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to think laterally and “outside the square”
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a member of a teams
  • Ability to relate and converse with clients and to have an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the issues related to services to VMCH residents and clients
  • Strong time management, organisational and administrative skills including the ability to work autonomously with and without supervision and to manage a wide range of projects and time lines
  • Competent Computer Skills and familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), emails and on-line ordering
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
