About the role

The Facilities Manager will provide timely, high quality and informative facility management expertise across VMCH residential aged care portfolio. You will be responsible for leading a team of Maintenance Officers and oversight to multi-site facilities management in addition to the following:

  • Coordinating and managing the delivery of VMCH maintenance and minor capital works program across all sites in line with the preventative and reactive maintenance schedules and identified jobs, to ensure that KPI’s are met for time, cost and quality.
  • Developing and maintaining long term cyclical maintenance and facilities plans for all sites in conjunction with Infrastructure manager
  • Reviewing and negotiating tender and contractor maintenance service agreements, contracts and minor capital works in conjunction with infrastructure manager
  • Ensuring all VMCH facilities meet all accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements (including OHS, WHS Act, Aged Care Act, NCC/BCA - Building Codes of Australia, Australian Essential Safety Measures AS/1851, Disability Discrimination Act, Retirement Villages Act and Equitable Access Regulations)

Skills & experience

The successful candidates will present with the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience gained from a combination of trade experience, training and/or professional accreditation
  • Knowledge and/or experience of legislative compliance requirements relating to Residential Aged Care.
  • Extensive relevant experience in a similar role, including experience in the management of staff, contracts and facility maintenance.
  • Understanding of contemporary facilities management issues and strategic asset management
  • Project management, analytical and financial/costing/budgeting skills
  • Proficiency using computer systems and software including advanced Excel and Contractor maintenance management system
  • Proven negotiation skills with contractors and other stakeholder
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to think laterally and “outside the square”
  • Well developed time management, organisational and administrative skills including the ability to manage a wide range of projects and time lines
