The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Sterilising Technician with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team in the SSD department at St. Vincent's Private Community Hospital Griffith. We are seeking suitably qualified personnel to fill this position where the successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects required to service all sterile equipment used directly for patient care.

The position involves participation in a rotating roster including morning and afternoon shifts and occasionally weekends.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the operations and coordinates the day to day sterilising services at SVPCHG is provided in line with all relevant Australian and International standards, in keeping with the philosophy, mission and values of St. Vincent's Private Community Hospital Griffith.
  • Ensuring all sterilising services is delivered within the scope of practice of the sterilising technician and by adhering to policies and procedures of SVPCHG and St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA).
  • Coaching and share knowledge in the sterilising techniques with a commitment to professional development.
  • Managing one’s self and the team, to create a transformational leadership environment.

The Skills and Experience Required

  • Sterilising Technology Certificate III from NSW TAFE or commitment to undertake the course within 12 months of commencement of employment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and individually.
  • Awareness of Quality Improvement and Work Health & Safety.

Essential requirements

  • SVHA has a duty of care under work health and safety legislation to eliminate and/or control the risk of transmission of vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) in healthcare settings. You are therefore required to comply with the SVHA Staff Health Screening Immunisation Policy, which, depending on the role you perform in the organisation will require you to undergo mandatory immunisations/vaccinations (including flu vaccinations).
  • A National Criminal History Check will be conducted as part of the selection process.
