Campus Chaplain - Acacia Ridge

About the role

The Campus chaplain is a key member of the team providing holistic care and support to residents, family members and staff within all services on the campus. As an integrated site, the Campus chaplain takes lead in the development and delivery of strategies and outcomes in line with the Integrated Community Scope of Practice.

Your daily duties will be varied and your role is responsible for the delivery of a number of key objectives which includes, but is not limited to:
  • Facilitating a holistic pastoral care program
  • Nurturing a Jesus Centred spirituality (including Christian religious services and programs)
  • As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, providing pastoral and spiritual insights toward the overall care of residents
  • Developing a healthy community
  • Working with volunteers to flourish further care within the service
Chaplains are members of the Church and Community Engagement team of Churches of Christ in Queensland. This position is located at our Acacia Ridge campus and includes Residential Aged Care, Retirement Living, Affordable Housing and a community centre.

About you

You are active in your Christian faith and a "pastoral" type person having demonstrated competence in offering holistic pastoral care as a member of an interdisciplinary team in a professional manner. As a team person with a teachable spirit you are able to communicate effectively with others in a variety of contexts.

You are comfortable working alongside people from different faiths, cultures, lifestyle choices, educational and career backgrounds. You are able to assimilate seamlessly with your team members and can mentor them to overcome organisational hurdles and achieve shared goals.

Your qualifications and experience for this role should also include:
  • Able to be endorsed as a Ministering Person with Churches of Christ in Queensland:
  • Recognised pastoral care or ministry qualification;
  • Current Driver's license and a willingness to travel inter/intrastate periodically;
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in providing pastoral care/chaplaincy services at an advanced level in a health or community environment.
It is also desirable, but not essential, that you have education or experience in community development processes required in the affordable housing context.

Please note, all employees working within our residential and community aged care will need to be immunised for Influenza from 01/05/2020. If you have already received your flu vaccination, we ask that you provide proof as part of the recruitment process.
