About the role As the Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for meeting the direct care needs and preferences of the residents as recorded in the assessments and the nursing care plans. Working as part of a friendly and close-knit team, your focus will be to:
  • Maintain awareness of the holistic needs of residents and an understanding of the ageing process including supporting resident independence; individual choice and decision making; privacy; emotional support and medical needs
  • Deliver consistently high standards of nursing care to meet individual residents’ needs, the agreed care plan, professional standards and VMCH policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to planning appropriate care for residents, using a range of skills and data gathering techniques including observation, interview, physical examination and measurement
  • Develop, monitor and maintain a plan of care in collaboration with the other RN’s, health care team and significant others, or as directed by the Registered Nurse in charge or Residential Services Manager
  • Be responsive, prompt and courteous when interacting with residents, families and colleagues and responding to the needs of residents and their families
Skills & experience
  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working as a Registered Nurse in an Aged Care Facility
  • Knowledge and understanding of Commonwealth, State and/or Territory legislation, statutory requirements and common law pertaining to nursing practice
  • An understanding of and ability to ensure compliance with residential Aged Care Standards, ACFI requirements, Occupational Health and Safety, food safety and other professional legislative requirements
  • Well-developed prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate awareness of risks associated with providing care in aged care and ability to implement documented requirements and preferences of residents
  • Proficiency utilising information technology, with well-developed computer skills including MS Office
