POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a senior position within the Communicable Disease Epidemiology and Surveillance team in the Health Protection Branch. The position contributes to the development, testing and implementation of innovative disease surveillance strategies, especially in syndromic surveillance of communicable and environment-related disease. The role involves working within a project team of IT specialists, data analysts and epidemiologists to automate the receipt, analysis and reporting of syndromic surveillance data from health services across Victoria, including the development of outbreak/anomaly detection algorithms and alerting processes. The position also works closely with colleagues from across the epidemiology team and the Health Protection Branch.

Do you have

  • Postgraduate qualification in epidemiology and/or biostatistics, or equivalent experience?
  • Demonstrated experience in communicable disease epidemiology and surveillance?
  • An innovative mindset, prepared to go beyond existing methods while retaining scientific rigour?
