We’re currently inviting applications from energetic, passionate and highly capable Family Case Workers to join our team in Cape York!

Our Cape York Family Centre runs a ground breaking model that focuses on supporting the healing and transformation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Based in a residential bush setting, this position presents a unique opportunity to be a part of a meaningful closing the gap initiative whilst being based in a gorgeous scenic location just 25 minutes outside of Cooktown.

Your role:

You’ll visit and assess the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families at high risk of breakdown due to alcohol and drug use who may also have secondary related mental and/or physical health issues. You will be responsible for case management of a family throughout the duration of the residential component of their rehabilitation. Supplementing this you will also manage their transition back to community living which will include coordinating any additional support services they may require to have a seamless re-integration.

This is a unique opportunity to experience life in one of the most beautiful, historic and unspoilt natural wonderlands in Australia. This role includes subsidised housing for those applicants required to relocate to Cooktown.

You’ll demonstrate:

  • Completed or currently undertaking study within a Health, Justice or Education field
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
  • Current open drivers licence
  • Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and have a solid understanding of issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander families.
