About the role

At Calvary Community Care the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides skilled nursing services to clients in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The Nurse Specialist provides timely access to assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic management and evaluation of client care needs. The role is aimed at improving the quality of life of clients and their families/carers within a clearly defined scope of practice.

The position will demonstrate competence in the provision of specialist nursing care as specified by registration requirements, National Board standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation and context of care within Calvary Community Care.

What you bring

  • Nursing registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the community nursing
  • Relevant post graduate qualification in the area of specialisation (or working towards same) with at least 2 years’ experience working in one of the following specialist fields; gastrostomy, diabetes, blood transfusion, palliative care, stomal therapy or continence.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and vehicle.
  • Abides by the Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses in Australia and the Code of Ethics for Nurses in Australia.
  • Team player with the ability to develop and maintain effective high level working relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including employees and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and achieve goals within set timeframes.
  • Highly developed organisational and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems.

  • Recent experience with complex wounds, NWPT, IV medication management, PICC lines, pumps and infusers
  • Relevant association membership where relevant or applicable to the specialisation
  • Understanding of the community nursing sector - Home care Packages, Community Nursing Program, Commonwealth Home Support Program and other community funding options.
  • Flexibility in spread of hours to respond to client needs
