CHCB is a 32 bed health care facility providing a range of inpatient, community and ambulatory services for palliative care and progressive neurological conditions.

We are currently located at our temporary site in Parkdale, whilst our Caulfield site is being re-developed into a Health Care Precinct.

About the role
Pastoral Care plays a very important role in the care of the sick person. It seeks to give support and understanding at a time when illness challenges this person and their significant others. Pastoral care is attentive to all aspects of a person’s life: physical, emotional, social, cultural and spiritual. The Pastoral Carer will have a particular responsibility for spiritual care in this holistic context.

As the Lead Clinician Pastoral Care and Bereavement Services, in addition to managing a clinical load you will be required to support other practitioners and manage administrative tasks as directed by the relevant Allied Health Head of Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced clinician to further develop their leadership and clinical skills in as part of a dynamic and collaborative department.

What You Bring
  • Clinical Pastoral Education (minimum two units) or two years tertiary qualification (or equivalent) relevant to Pastoral Care/support practice
  • Significant experience working in a hospital or community health setting
  • Experience supporting a team of clinicians including providing supervision
  • Experience in bereavement and/or counselling highly desirable
  • An interest in health and pastoral care
  • The ability to communicate and liaise with the person, families and health professionals
  • Acknowledgement and understanding of different religious convictions
  • Superior Communication skills
  • Driver’s license, some travel as part of the community service is likely to be required.
