About the role

The Workplace Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for partnering with our Homes & Services across Western Australia to ensure WHS requirements and strategies are implemented across the portfolio, and monitor the effectiveness of these strategies to ensure an ongoing focus on safety. The WHS Advisor will be responsible for providing specialist advice and building a positive safety culture balanced with operational requirements.

As the subject matter expert the WHS Advisor will improve employee WHS knowledge and understanding through regular presence at Homes and the Home WHS Committees, as well as through the provision of training (WHS / IM / Emergency Response etc.) to Regis management teams and employees as required.

The WHS Advisor will also be responsible for:
Ongoing review and implementation of WHS systems, policies and procedures
Assist the WHS Manager to develop and roll out initiatives to address key risk areas, establish objectives and targets to achieve significant incident rate and outcome improvement, enhance safety culture and improved WHS awareness and focus.
Assisting in the completion of State WHS Audit functions with an aim of achieving continuous improvement
Support State WHS reporting in collaboration with the WHS Manager, including reporting and review of incidents
Conduct investigations into incidents.
Assessment, monitoring and mitigation of workplace health and safety risks across the portfolio, ensuring adherence to WHS legislation and industry best practice
Facilitate meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions as required

Success will be built upon strong relationships with all key stakeholders, and the ability to translate company and legislative requirements and implement them as practical initiatives and tasks.

Skills & Experience

Diploma or above in WHS, or degree in a related discipline (minimum requirement);
Minimum 3 years in a similar role with a medium/large sized organisation;
Broad WHS knowledge, including legislation, risk management and auditing;
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively;
Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders in a diverse environment;
Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.

Due to travel requirements of the role (across metro sites), you must have your own car and licence. A vehicle allowance is applicable to the position.

To be eligible to join the team at Regis we require the following:

Consistent with State and Territory public health orders and with Regis’ mandatory vaccination policy, all candidates must produce evidence that they have received the current (i.e. 2021) seasonal influenza vaccination or medical evidence to Regis’ satisfaction of an accepted clinical contraindication to receiving the influenza vaccination
Proof of the right to work lawfully in Australia
