About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Clinician Occupational Therapist with a passion, interest and specialist experience in acute services to provide excellence in stream leadership, patient-centred care, and to contribute to the ongoing development of our inter-professional service model, in support of ongoing excellence in the delivery of a high-quality clinical service. You will work collaboratively with inclusive and passionate occupational therapy and allied health staff to provide excellent, evidence-based care for patients and their families/carers across medical and surgical streams. The senior Occupational Therapist is a leader on the wards and is an integral part of the supportive multi-disciplinary team that conducts high quality assessments and intervention helping achieve timely discharges in a fast-paced environment.

What we’re looking for in You

Experienced Occupational Therapist with clinical expertise in acute occupational therapy across medical and surgical services. Your participation in a rich diversity of experiences and opportunities including involvement in research and quality assurance activities will be valued, and your advice and guidance will be sought after. You will be responsible for the providing clinical and professional leadership to our Acute Medical & Surgical Stream and the wider Occupational Therapy service. You will have the opportunity to work alongside other experienced and team-focused Senior Clinicians as part of the senior clinical leadership teams in occupational therapy and allied health. The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate leadership qualities within OT and multidisciplinary teams

  • Implement clear communication and advocate for best care for the patient

  • Engage patients in the participation of their treatment journey

  • Acknowledge responsibility for own learning

  • Collaborate with others in the development of department resources and research pursuits

  • Be a natural role model, leading by example to inspire others to be the best they can be

What you need:

  • Experience in providing a high quality clinical service to patients in the acute setting;

  • Passion for enhancing patient experiences and facilitation of occupational performance;

  • Demonstrated skill in teaching, supervision and promoting the growth and development of staff; 

  • An aptitude for ongoing learning and personal professional development; 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; 

  • A keen interest in evidence-based practice, clinical inquiry, research and service improvement.

Eligibility for membership of relevant professional association and current Occupational Therapy AHPRA registration are requirement for this role.
