The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of Victorians into the future. We also lead the Victorian Government's response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Working with our partners, we oversee Victoria's health system including mental health, ageing and aged care and preventive health. The Manager, Rural Health Performance, Hume region, is responsible for leading a team that monitors rural health service performance, quality and governance. The role also coordinates and leads responses to new and emerging issues and risks relating to rural and regional health services and rural health more broadly. Demonstrated competency in monitoring financial, quality and governance issues, well developed analytical and conceptual skills, relationship management and the ability to manage tight deadlines are critical to the role.

The role involves developing effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including health service Chief Executive Officers and Board Chairs and a range of program and policy areas within the department. The role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment that requires systems thinking, excellent communication skills and a drive to improve healthcare for rural and regional communities.

Experienced in governance, safety and quality within the health sector, with knowledge of the particular challenges in rural health?
