About the Role

Bring your Occupational Hygiene Technician experience and join the growing team of Respirator Fit Testers.

Being part of the Respiratory Protection Program, you will fit test Monash Health employees for the correct fit of Filtering Facepiece Respirators (FFRs).

Full training will be provided. In your role you will have responsibility to ensure:

MH employees are guided in the appropriate FFR selection

testing validity, protocols and records are maintained

invalid test results are recognised

equipment is in working order, cleaning and maintained

issues or concerns are escalated as required

With a high level of attention to detail, you will:
conduct fit testing of Respiratory Protective Equipment and FFRs according to procedures

support employees' choice of available respirator selection and that they understand fit test results

provide information on relevant Monash Health Respiratory Protective Equipment including correct use and guidance for prevention of injuries to employees fit tested

ensure equipment is cleaned, calibrated and operated in accordance with procedures.

support recording and data maintenance of fit test processes and equipment maintenance

maintain current knowledge of organisational Respiratory Protective Equipment

understand respiratory exposure risks to both yourself and others

In this 12 month fixed term contract your flexible availability is key to being rostered across seven days per week (Monday - Sunday). AM and PM shifts daily, spanning from 7.30am to 10.30pm.

0.6 EFT (three days per week) up to full time EFT is available. As you will work across various Monash Health sites, a valid driver’s licence is essential.

About You

You are a dynamic, experienced Occupational Hygiene Technician. With a genuine passion and interest in this unique opportunity you will commit to:

work in accordance with all relevant Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Prevention & Respiratory Protection Program procedures

work within the supervision and delegation Enrolled Nurse requirements, and escalate to a Registered Nurse or the Respiratory Protection Program Administrator when required

participating in an annual fit tester competency assessment

work in and wear PPE for considerable lengths of time

What You Need

Essential:
Demonstrated recent experience as an Occupational Hygiene Technician

Member of Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH)

Australian working rights

Valid Driver's licence

Clear understanding of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)

Understanding of a respiratory protective program (RPP)

Proficient computer skills

Understands proper use, wearing, storage and maintenance of the RPE

Highly regarded but not essential:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - TAE40116

Respiratory Protective Equipment experience

Understanding of the Australian/New Zealand Standards specifically in relation to; AS/NZS 1715:2009 & AS/NZS 1716:2012

Understanding of the international Standard specifically: ISO 16975-3:2017-09: Respiratory protective devices — Selection, use and maintenance — Part 3:Fit-testing procedures
