We are Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital Geelong. Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West Region, serving over 500,000 people across a geographically dispersed area.

About the Role


Anaesthesia Registrars and Provisional Fellows, Department of Anaesthesia, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, Barwon Health, Geelong.


The department supports a wide range of clinical anaesthetic services including regional anaesthesia and ultrasound, obstetric and paediatric services, cardiac anaesthesia (including transoesophageal echocardiography) and a benchmark perioperative service. The department has a strong commitment to excellence in clinical, education and research activities and a strong focus on preparing senior trainees for consultant practice.


Applications are invited for advanced anaesthesia trainees or provisional fellows to join our friendly and supportive department. The department currently employs 20 full-time and 38 part-time anaesthetic consultants and 22 anaesthetic registrars. General and speciality fellowships are available, both 6 and 12 month blocks considered. Speciality fellowships include:



  • Cardiac Anaesthesia (only available from August 2022 onwards)

  • Regional Anaesthesia

  • Perioperative Medicine

  • Other subspecialty anaesthesia fellowships may be available on discussion


Applicants must be ANZCA accredited or eligible.
