As one of the largest health services in Victoria, and a team of more than 10,000 strong, we provide a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical, and mental health services; as well as rehabilitation, aged care, outpatient and community programs. We are a designated state-wide provider for services including trauma, and we lead centres of excellence for tertiary services in several key specialties including neurosciences, nephrology, oncology, cardiology and virtual health.



Your new team



  • The Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory (VIDRL) is a leading Australian infectious diseases reference laboratory located in Melbourne, Victoria.

  • VIDRL is now part of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (the Doherty). The Doherty is a joint venture between Melbourne Health and the University of Melbourne.

  • VIDRL provides the Victorian Department of Health with virology and Mycobacteria public health reference laboratory services, including surveillance, outbreak investigations, reference testing and research. VIDRL also performs diagnostic testing, mainly in virology, for Victorian hospitals.


VIDRL has been at the forefront of the COVID 19 pandemic response, providing both testing capability and capacity for the community, SARS CoV 2 testing for Victoria’s Hotel Quarantine system as well as clinical research and public health initiatives.



The role is to coordinate projects being done by VIDRL Scientists to develop new COVID 19 testing approaches for use in Victoria public Health response



Your success in this role, will be in your ability to



  • Coordinate project activities

  • Support senior team members with administrative functions

  • Engage and liaise with relevant stakeholders

  • Contribute to scientific manuscripts

  • Have good working knowledge of scientific concepts (preferably in the area of microbiology)


Your Contribution:



  • You have effective time management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team

  • You are pro active and energertic

  • Good interpersonal and professional communications and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to or have submitted scientific reports for publication

  • Previous experience with Project Planning and financial oversight for projects
