The Company

Royal Freemasons is a non-for-profit organisation that was founded by the Freemasons back in 1867. Since that time, Royal Freemasons has become one of the largest aged care providers in Victoria across our portfolio of aged care homes (facilities), home care and retirement / independent living. Due to recent reviews of our operations, we have two key leadership roles on offer to support and lead operations within an adaptive work environment.

The Role(s)

As a General Manager – Residential Care of your allocated Facility portfolio, you will report directly to the Executive Director, Care and Hotel Services. Some key responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:

  • Profitable performance of Residential Care operations within your portfolio
  • Ensure a customer service communications strategy is in place and operational for Facilities and their families
  • Ensure there is quality and clinical governance and operational oversight of Facility activities within your portfolio
  • Ensure that rostering is within budget
  • Leadership, management, planning, direction and operational performance of the portfolio
  • Develop, implement and maintain portfolio cost management strategies
  • Mentor and support our Facility Managers and their teams to deliver consistent excellence of care and hotel services to residents
  • Manage and guide all service functions in terms of quality of service, customer service, financial performance and compliance
  • Role model positive workplace Culture and Royal Freemasons Values and leadership behaviours
  • Contribute to a professional development framework for high potentials and / or key leaders

Key selection criteria

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (business management and / or health management)
  • Satisfactory National Criminal History Record check prior to commencement of employment and every three years.
  • Current Drivers’ License and ability to regularly travel.

Skills:

  • Senior level written and verbal communication skills with an impeccable attention to detail, including the ability to interpret and respond to government requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to grasp, investigate, disarm and solve escalated issues and complaints (families, residents, regulators, staff).
  • Proven ability to negotiate, manage and operate within an annual operating budget
  • Well-developed leadership skills that create and maintain a culture of continuous improvement and inclusion. Mentoring and supporting others to achieve high performance

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience overseeing multiple sites preferably within the aged care residential service industry or acute sector.
  • Demonstrated executive level reporting.
  • Management of health or non-health business portfolios.
  • Budget accountability.
  • Residential aged care regional operations management.
  • Project and change management experience.

Knowledge:

  • Highly developed working knowledge of contemporary aged care.
  • Understanding and driving financial viability.
  • Risk management.
  • Human Resources management, including selection, development and performance management.
  • Developing and implementing frameworks that underpin and deliver good clinical practice and excellence in service provision.
