Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Aged Care Cook to join our team in a Residential Aged Care Facility on Tiwi Island.

We are seeking 2 x qualified and experienced cooks for the Residential Facility, cooking 3 meals daily for 35 residents and staff.

This role is Fly in Fly out (FIFO) from Darwin, transition day is Sunday, with the requirement to be on-site working Sunday to Sunday, 1-week on and 1-week off.

Accommodation, flights, etc provided. For approx. 35 residents and staff.

We are taking expressions of interest from empathetic, passionate, and skilled cooks to join our Aged Care Facility, which is essential to previous Aged Care or Healthcare experience.

It is vital for the successful applicants to hold a strong degree of flexibility working within these roles to work across rotating rosters, (1-week on and 1-week off).

It is essential the successful applicants are qualified, understand the residential aged care environment and standards, have flexible shift availability, are natural leaders, and have a high level of empathy and compassion for our residents.

In line with ACFI requirements, we require the successful candidate/s to hold a minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.

The successful applicants will;

Ensure that meals are prepared to cater to individual resident dietary requirements and plated in accordance with guidelines. Knowledge of special diets and diet requirements such as allergies/intolerances, supplements, and texture modified soft and purees is essential
Be actively involved with menu planning and recipe development
Maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques in accordance with food safety legislation
Adhere to cleaning schedule, documentation requirements and perform regular audits
Ensure that team comply with strict food safety and hygiene standards in aged care
Lead, manage and motivate a small team to provide outstanding customer service and quality food for our residents.
Hold previous experience in effectively managing food costs and a kitchen in an aged care, healthcare, or retirement living environment
Hold a relevant trade qualification in commercial cooking or relevant experience.
Be available to work a variety of shifts including weekend’s (Essential)
Hold excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills
Be flexible, reliable, and self-motivated
Be a confident team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills that has a passion for providing outstanding and nutritious home-cooked meals for our residents

In this role, it is essential you have previous aged care, healthcare, or retirement village, have a current flu shot, and present a clear National Police Check.
