Support Worker - Day and After School Program

Are you passionate about care? Do you want to make a difference in someone’s life? Then join our growing community team in Victoria to work in our residential and respite accommodations.

Your primary role will be to provide support for to a maximum of 4 clients, ratio may vary depending on complexity of the client: 1:1 1:2 1:3 or 1:4. The successful applicant would be provided with the induction and given time to familiarize with our client before being rostered. All shifts have on-call support should it be necessary. The support workers undertake a range of daily task support and ‘home-like’ activities within their duties including:

  • Personal care
  • Medication
  • Positioning
  • Complex Physical and/or Intellectual Disability
  • Challenging Behaviours
  • Bowel Care
  • Meal preparation
  • Domestic duties and daily activities

Other duties may include:

  • Support in community participation programs
  • Transportation of clients to community
  • Support with assistive technology
  • Social and community support
  • Showering assistance
  • Manual handling including hoist transfers – manual, electric / assisted standing
  • Dressing assistance and hygiene needs
  • Bowel and continence support
  • Medication assistance

The successful candidate will have:

  • Maximum availability and willingness to do sleep overs / active nights
  • Demonstrated manual handling experience
  • Demonstrated experience with personal care
  • Experience in working with people with high medical needs and intellectual disabilities
  • The ability to develop strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders

Mandatory Requirements include:

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability/Aged Care, or equivalent
  • Current First Aid level 2 Certificate
  • Current CPR (annual)
  • National Police Check
  • Current Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain
  • Current Australian Drivers License
  • Own vehicle with comprehensive car insurance

Preferred but not essential:

  • Manual handling training
  • Administration of medication training
  • 1:1 support and group setting support
